Client mods are common in Minecraft. Not every mod is allowed on Genesiverse. This page explains what we generally permit. It supplements the Server Rules and Terms of Service.
All modifications are used at your own risk. We cannot review every version of every mod. Install only from official project pages, trusted stores, or the author’s verified GitHub/release channel. Unofficial reuploads may contain malware or hidden cheats and can get your account punished.
1) Categories that are generally allowed
If a mod does not clearly fit an allowed category below, assume it is disallowed.
- Performance — Mods that improve FPS, reduce lag, or optimize rendering without changing gameplay rules (for example common Sodium / Lithium-style performance stacks, subject to version compatibility).
- Aesthetic — Shaders and resource packs that change look and feel without revealing hidden information (no x-ray style transparency of solid blocks, no seeing through walls).
- Cosmetic HUD — HUD tweaks that only show information you already have in vanilla UI (armor durability, status effects). Not allowed: minimaps that reveal other players, enemy health overlays, distance/radar hacks, or similar competitive intel.
- Brightness / gamma — Client brightness helpers that only change how dark areas look on your screen.
- Accessibility & QoL (non-advantage) — Keybind organizers, zoom that does not pierce walls, inventory sorting that does not automate combat or mining beyond normal player input — when they do not provide unfair game advantage.
2) Disallowed modifications and tools
- Anything that gives a significant gameplay advantage on Club, LaserTag, duels, arcade, or other modes.
- Kill aura, reach, velocity, scaffold, fly, speed, ESP, freecam abuse, barracuda-style combat aids.
- Auto-clickers, burst clickers, macros, auto-sprint combat scripts, aim assists (software or hardware configured for advantage).
- Mods that change how your client talks to our servers (packet tampering, spoofing, proxies used to cheat).
- Bots, farm scripts, or AFK automation used to grind currency, stats, or events unfairly.
3) Resource packs and official Genesiverse packs
Use our official resource pack when required by the server. Third-party packs are fine when they stay cosmetic and do not enable x-ray or competitive overlays. Packs that replace block textures to reveal ores/chests/players are not allowed.
4) Unsure?
Ask staff on official Discord before using a questionable mod. “I didn’t know” is not a reliable defense if the mod clearly provides an advantage. Punishments for unfair advantages may include removal from competitive modes, wipes of unfair progress, or bans.
